Castleford climbed to fourth in the Super League table with a comfortable win over rivals Wakefield.

Three penalties from Luke Gale and Greg Minikin's try put Tigers 10-0 up before Tyler Randell went over for Wakefield just before the break.

Adam Milner went over from dummy half to extend Castleford's lead after both sides had a try ruled out on review.

Paul McShane's late try settled any remaining nerves as they secured a third win in four games.

The hosts were rarely troubled by Wakefield's attack and were only beaten by Randell's clever dummy and break through the middle - the only try Daryl Powell's side have conceded in their past two games.

There was however one setback for the Tigers, who lost half-back Luke Gale to injury before the break.

Wakefield also lost a key contributor to injury in the first half, Chris Annakin being forced off in the 13th minute of what was his first game of the season.

Trinity have now lost seven of their past eight games but remain seventh in the Super League table.
