Tony Gigot's last-minute drop-goal sealed a tense and at times ill-tempered win for Catalans over Hull FC.

Scott Taylor and Hakim Miloudi tries put Hull FC up at the break, with Brayden Wiliame grabbing Dragons' four-pointer in response.

Drinkwater and Gigot tries then edged Catalans ahead, only for Taylor to level it with his second effort.

Both sides traded penalties and had players sin-binned in a fierce second half, before Gigot slotted the winner.

For Lee Radford's Hull FC, defeat could prove a costly one as they lost their half-back pairing of Alert Kelly and Jordan Abdull, who left the field on a stretcher with a serious-looking leg injury.

The game started with much promise for the Black and Whites, with Taylor dotting down early and Miloudi dancing over for the visitors after Wiliame hit back for Dragons.

Jake Connor and Catalans scrum-half Drinkwater, making his debut just hours after having his move cleared, swapped penalties to end the first half.

Drinkwater then marked his Dragons bow with a try, which was quickly followed up by a Gigot effort, while Taylor ensured it remained tight with a stunning breakaway effort on 50 minutes.

Kelly was then lost to injury and kicks were traded once more before Connor and Michael McIlorum found themselves in the middle of a melee - a confrontation that carried over onto the sidelines as they walked to the sin-bin.

There was a pause in hostilities as Abdull was seen to by medics before being carried off on a stretcher, and the drama intensified with Drinkwater landing a late penalty before Connor levelled with just three minutes remaining.

But there was still time for Gigot to win it.
