Huddersfield overcame a half-time deficit to beat Super League rivals Wakefield and reach the Challenge Cup quarters for the first time since 2013.
Mason Caton-Brown's try helped Trinity lead at half-time, despite Adam O'Brien going over for Giants, who also had Kruise Leeming sent to the sin-bin.
However, Matty English, Ukuma Ta'ai and Lee Gaskell crossed for the hosts after the break to put them 24-8 ahead.
Wakefield replied with Ryan Hampshire's score but could not get back on terms.
The hosts welcomed winger Jermaine McGillvary back from injury while half-back Danny Brough returned from suspension and kicked four out of four attempts.
The visitors, without Scott Grix because of a shoulder injury, are five points above their opponents in the Super League table but could not mount any real pressure in the last 10 minutes to set up a nervy finale.
