Wakefield Trinity added to Wigan Warriors' recent woes with a convincing Super League victory at Belle Vue.
Two tries from Ben Jones-Bishop, one in each half, and scores from Bill Tupou, Tom Johnstone and Pauli Pauli were reward for Trinity's efforts.
Wigan, without Joel Tomkins after he was suspended for off-field issues, slipped to a third loss in a row.
Gabe Hamlin scored his first Warriors try, while Tom Davies and Morgan Escare scores showed heart but were in vain.
With seven regular-season games left to play before the split and with Wigan still second in the table, it is not quite panic stations for the Warriors.
However, the downturn in form - including a Challenge Cup exit at Warrington - since the announcement that head coach Shaun Wane would be leaving the club at the end of the season is a slight cause for concern.
Trinity, who climbed to sixth with their win, marked the death of former captain Harold Poynton with a minute's silence before the match.
And the man who won a Lance Todd Trophy in their 1963 Challenge Cup final win against Wigan would have been largely impressed by the way the current crop went about honouring his memory.
Winger Jones-Bishop showed smart footwork to stay in the field of play in scoring, and centre Tupou grabbed a second when he burrowed in from dummy half after Wigan's Tommy Leuluai was sin-binned for taking out a dummy runner.
Hamlin pushed across for his first Super League try after a nice switch by Sean O'Loughlin to give Wigan a bit of hope at half-time, but Wakefield and Jones-Bishop pounced to sprint the length of the field early on after the break.
Johnstone's spectacular finish in the corner looked to have set up a nerve-free last quarter but Wigan kept going, crossing through Davies and Escare, before Pauli plunged in to quell the fightback.
