Hull KR's comeback led to only the second draw in Super League this season

Jy Hitchcox scored four tries for Castleford but Hull KR crossed twice in the last 10 minutes to secure a draw.

The hosts led 14-0 through Mike McMeeken's try and two from Hitchcox, who collected two high balls to score.

Taioalo Vaivai went over before the break for Rovers, and Adam Quinlan went over straight after half-time.

Winger Hitchcox added two more to put Cas 24-12 up but Mose Masoe and Vaivai scored to level for Hull, with both sides missing late drop-goal attempts.

Castleford stayed fourth in the table, a point behind Warrington - who won at Wakefield - while second-bottom Rovers moved to within three points of Catalans and Salford.

Tim Sheens' Rovers side were fortunate to only trail by eight points at the interval, as their opponents dominated at the Jungle.

However, Quinlan's try under the posts, after Chris Atkin's great take from the second-half restart, was an early turning point.

After Vaivai dived onto Atkin's grubber kick to make it 24-24 with five minutes left, Atkin was off-target with a drop-goal attempt for Hull, while Jacob Trueman also find the mark and snatch victory for Castleford.

Castleford coach Daryl Powell:

"I'm disappointed we didn't win the game but we had no subs and we had players on there who had to stay on.

"Going into the last five minutes, if you had given me a point, I would have taken it. Hull KR had all the ascendancy. I didn't think we were the smartest at times but it was a gutsy effort."

On Hitchcox:

"He won't be with us next season and he knows that but he's done a phenomenal job for us."

Hull KR coach Tim Sheens:

"Given the way we started, it was a good point for us. With the amount of ball and field position we gave up, not to get beat by 60, we were lucky in that regard.

"It was one of those games that could have gone either way. We had two shots from Chris and a very average one from Matty Marsh and Danny Tickle who likes to do them had his left boot off at the time.

"So there are a couple of things we could have done better but we walk away from here with a point and that's as good as a win, when you're away from home."
