Winger Greg Eden scored two tries as Castleford Tigers eased to victory at home to Catalans Dragons.
The Tigers took a 12-0 lead into the break thanks to tries from Paul McShane and Eden.
McShane kicked his third goal of the night to extend the home side's advantage.
Lewis Tierney crossed to give the visitors their first points with 15 minutes to go, but Eden dived over to secure the points for the hosts.
It was a tough evening for the French side who enjoyed plenty of possession, but failed to capitalise on good field position several times.
Man of the match McShane dived over from dummy half to set the Tigers on their way before prolific winger Eden picked up where he left off last season.
He ended the 2018 campaign with 12 tries in his final five appearances and the quality of both of his finishes suggested he could be in for another excellent campaign.
The Tigers travel to Hull FC, who lost the Hull derby in dramatic fashion on Friday night, on Thursday, while Catalans are back in action when they host Huddersfield on Saturday.
Castleford coach Daryl Powell:
"It was a good win for us. We defended outstandingly well and our attitude was great.
"It was a really pleasing performance. We've been the most consistent team over the last two years statistically - we've won 75% of our games which is a pretty awesome effort.
"Obviously we want to win something. This has given us a good platform. Clearly we'll improve as we work through the season."
Catalans head coach Steve McNamara:
"You need to fight, scrap and find ways to score tries. Castleford did that better than we did.
"They deserved to win. Clearly we were second best. We lost the physical battle.
"This team has still got to learn how to dig deep and stay in games when we're not playing well. Although we never looked like we were going to win that game, we did stay in the contest."
