Wigan's Morgan Smithies has been banned for a total of six games following two separate incidents during Saturday's Super League win over Castleford.

Smithies had already been suspended for two matches for headbutting.

But the 19-year-old second-row forward is now banned for a further four games and fined £500 after pleading guilty to a charge of "dangerous contact" following a tackle on James Clare.

The Cas winger was carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Clare later said on social media that he was "home safe and sound" after having x-rays, which came back all clear.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Giants prop Suaia Matagi has accepted his two-match suspension for a less serious dangerous contact charge in his side's loss to Hull, who had second row Joe Cator banned for one match.
