Warrington handed Catalans Dragons their first defeat of the season after coming from behind to win and go four games unbeaten in all competitions.
James Maloney crossed first but quick-fire tries from Ben Currie and Toby King gave the Wire a half-time lead.
Sam Tomkins threw an intercept which Jake Mamo gobbled up to extend the lead and Widdop finished off a scrappy last-tackle play to settle it.
Catalans put up a fight in the bid to claw back points but were repelled.
Steve Price's Wire showed real character to wrest the lead away from the Dragons and then deliver defensively to keep them out as they threw plenty of shape.
Since their round one defeat by Castleford, the Wolves have shown belief and even without Blake Austin showed class, as Stef Ratchford combined with a revitalised Gareth Widdop in the halves.
Steve McNamara's side failed to show the same cohesion and ruthlessness they had in previous games, as they played back-to-back home matches in Perpignan for only the second time in a year.
They were on top for large periods of the opening 40 but their late slide before the hooter proved the turning point.
King threw the errant pass which handed Maloney a walk-in but individual brilliance from Daryl Clark created Currie's try courtesy of a line-break and Widdop put a superb kick for centre King to draw in and atone for the error.
Mamo's poacher's effort stretched out the lead, and despite their best efforts McNamara's side were unable to puncture a stubborn defence.
