Wigan Warriors have signed England international prop Luke Thompson from National Rugby League side Canterbury Bulldogs on a four-year deal.

The 28-year-old, who won the 2019 Super League Grand Final with Wigan's rivals St Helens, played 42 NRL games for the Bulldogs but was hampered by injury.

He missed much of 2023 with a Lisfranc issue with his foot, having been part of England's World Cup campaign.

"I can't wait to be back playing in the Super League," Thompson said.

"It's a really exciting time to be joining Wigan. They're playing great rugby and I'm looking forward to being a part of it."

In addition to his NRL stint, where he was highly rated for his efforts at Belmore, the former Saint - who played 165 domestic games in the northern hemisphere - also played for Great Britain on the 2019 Tour under Wayne Bennett.

Warriors head coach Matt Peet said: "Luke is an outstanding acquisition for the club. He is a quality front-rower and brings a wealth of experience.

"We look forward to welcoming him and his family to the club."
