St Helens second-rower Sam Royle has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him with the Super League club until the end of the 2024 season.

The 23-year-old came through Saints' academy and has gone on to make 22 senior appearances for the club.

Royle made 15 appearances during the 2023 season with most of those coming off the bench.

"I've been here quite a long time now and I'm really excited to get one more year," he said.

"Louie [McCarthy-Scarsbrook] and Robes [James Roby] have been pillars of this club for a very long time, and it's not going to be an easy job for us to go without them but we are going to need people to step up.

"Hopefully, some people around my age, me, Ben [Davies], play some more and do our bit."
