France proved too strong for Wales in a women's rugby league encounter in Carcassonne.

The hosts scored tries through Laureane Biville, Perle Ramazeilles and Dorine Samarra with Mahault Pommier adding a conversion.

Georgia Taylor scored Wales' late try while dual-code cap Lowri Norkett-Morgan was back after retiring from professional rugby union in September.

Wales next face England on Saturday, 4 November at Headingley.

Wales' squad for the France game featured eight uncapped players, led by Leeds Rhinos' Beth Dainton while former captain Shaunni Davies returned after almost two years out with a knee injury.
