Leeds Rhinos have transferred winger Derrell Olpherts to hometown club Wakefield Trinity on a deal with immediate effect.

The 32-year-old links up with Trinity as they seek Championship success, having not featured this term.

Olpherts played under Trinity's head coach Daryl Powell at Castleford and scored 94 tries in 188 career games.

"We fully understand his desire to be playing regular first team rugby," Leeds head coach Rohan Smith said.

"We were therefore prepared to grant him the transfer to Wakefield. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank him for his efforts whilst at Leeds."

Powell added: "With Jermaine McGillvary getting hurt it left us a little bit light in the outside backs and we ideally needed a big and physical back and Derrell fits that perfectly."
