Hull KR's Michael McIlorum is expected to be out for three months after rupturing a bicep during the club's Super League defeat against Wigan Warriors last week.

The veteran hooker, who has made nine appearances for the Robins since joining from Catalans in the off season, is set to undergo surgery on the injury.

Speaking before their clash with neighbours Hull FC on Good Friday, head coach Willie Peters confirmed the forward will have a significant spell on the sidelines.

"He's ruptured it [his bicep], which we thought. I knew straight away with the type of player that he is that he'd certainly have done some serious damage there," Peters said.

"He's going to need surgery on that, so we've got to get him in as soon as possible. It's known as a 12-week injury, but we'll see how we go."

Meanwhile, reigning Super League Man of Steel Mikey Lewis could return against Hull FC after missing last Friday night's home defeat against Wigan.

Lewis picked up a groin injury during the Robins' Challenge Cup quarter-final derby win against Hull FC earlier in April.
