Hull KR prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves has been banned for two matches

Hull KR forward Jared Waerea-Hargreaves has been hit with a two-match ban following a controversial challenge on Wigan Warriors prop Tyler Dupree during the Robins' win on Friday.

Waerea-Hargreaves was not penalised by the match officials at the time despite leading with his elbow on Dupree's head carrying the ball into a tackle.

But the Rugby Football League's match review panel decided it was worth five penalty points, to take his 12-month tally to 13.5 and trigger two matches on the sidelines.

Hull KR lead the league by six points with five matches to go but the Kiwi prop's absence will be felt in crunch contests against fourth-placed Leeds Rhinos this Thursday and the following weekend against third-placed St Helens.

Hull KR have until 12:00 BST on Tuesday to appeal against the sanction.

Meanwhile Huddersfield Giants centre Taane Milne has been given a one-match ban after being charged with foul and abusive language towards match officials after he was sin-binned against Saints on Sunday.

A five-points penalty on his disciplinary record takes his personal tally to nine and over the threshold for a one-match ban, meaning he misses out on Sunday's home Super League contest against Warrington.
