Salford City Council are taking full ownership of the Salford Community Stadium, buying the 50% stake owned by The Peel Group.

Salford Red Devils have been thrown a financial lifeline with their fellow Super League clubs agreeing to give them an advance payment on their share of 2025 distribution money.

Doubts over gathering commercial revenue, due to uncertainty over the future of the Salford Community Stadium, have left the Red Devils with some gaps in their finances and last week the club requested help from the rest of the league.

A meeting of the clubs on Monday agreed to advance Salford money to bridge the gap while the stadium issue is sorted, with Salford City Council having approved a deal to purchase the ground they share with rugby union side Sale Sharks in September.

The sport's commercial arm - Rugby League Commercial - said in a statement Salford had received confirmation "of an offer of advance against the club’s existing distribution entitlements".

They added that the deal was dependent on "involvement in, and scrutiny of, a more sustainable long-term trading position for Salford Red Devils".

Salford chief executive Paul King welcomed the decision, saying:, external "This affords time for the club to consider all investment options and to continue to collaborate with the council and our friends at Sale Sharks to support the purchase of the stadium."

King added that he hoped progress on that deal was "imminent" and, when finalised, would help progress "the build of our advertising screen, to provide the club with an additional revenue source".

The club also announced two new kit partners ahead of next season.

"We know we have work to do commercially," chief operating officer Claire Butters said.

"This is a big club with a rich heritage, our job is to re-establish Salford Red Devils as the club of Salford and build something special here that people love and want to be part of.

"The Salford spirit knows no limits and that’s the mindset we’re adopting."
