England and Warrington Wolves captain George Williams will miss the next two months after learning he requires surgery on an ankle injury.
Williams skipper picked up the problem in the defeat by Hull FC on Saturday.
The stand-off will have an operation on Thursday before beginning his recuperation.
Williams, 30, has appeared in every Super League game so far this season, in which Warrington currently sit seventh.
But he is expected to miss seven league games and the Wire's Challenge Cup semi-final with Leigh Leopards next month.
"It's not good, he'll be out for eight to 10 weeks," Warrington head coach Sam Burgess told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"It happened in the last four or five minutes of the game, which is frustrating. But George will be back, he's already positive about it."
