Jack Heggie produced a superb display on his international comeback as he helped England's wheelchair rugby league team to a 58-28 victory over Spain.

England held a narrow 24-22 advantage at the half-time interval in Nantes after two tries apiece for Heggie and Joe Coyd.

However, Chris Haynes and Jason Owen gave England the upper hand before the impressive Heggie and Coyd finished the job.

Heggie, making his first England appearance for 10 years, ended up with 28 points courtesy of three tries and eight goals from as many attempts while Coyd finished with four tries.

"Spain have showed that they can be another competitive team in Europe," said England coach Tom Coyd, elder brother of Joe.

"They asked us a lot of questions, and it’s to the credit of our guys that they had the answers in that second half."
