Cornwall forward David Weetman has signed a new one-year contract with the League One club.

The 27-year-old. who moved to the Penryn-based club from French side St Gaudens Bears in May 2023, has established himself as one of the Choughs' top performers.

He is the first player to agree a new deal since the club was taken over by businessman Kenny Stone last week.

"It means so much to be able to represent Cornwall again in 2025," Weetman told the club website.

“Ever since I have joined the club I have loved my time here, it is home to me now and I can’t see myself playing anywhere else."

Cornwall will begin their 2025 campaign with a home tie in the second round of the Challenge Cup in late January when they host North Wales Crusaders before beginning their League One campaign at Weetman's former club Newcastle Thunder on 23 March.

"Our chats about what lies ahead and the enthusiasm to become a leading man in our pursuit for glory has been refreshing and contagious," Stone said of Weetman.

"I look forward to seeing David grow as a player on and off the field and he will continue to be a huge asset for the club.”
