Leeds Carnegie centre James Tincknell, who was seriously injured in a car crash, says he is "really excited" to be playing again.

The 23-year-old was left in a coma for four weeks after suffering serious head injuries in February.

Eight months on since the accident, Tincknell is due to play his first game for the club against Doncaster on Wednesday evening.

"It's really exciting to get back after all I've been through," he said.

"To pull that jersey back on and get on that pitch is an awesome feeling."

The rugby union player lost 5st (31kg) following the accident. Since recovering he has been training heavily and following a specialised diet.

"When I woke up I didn't believe I was in an accident until I looked in the mirror," said Tincknell.
