Tim Molenaar pens two-year Gloucester extension

Gloucester's Tim Molenaar has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Kingsholm until 2014.

The 30-year-old New Zealand-born centre left Nottingham to join the Premiership outfit on a two-year contract in the summer of 2009.

He has so far made 50 appearances but has yet to play this season because of a shoulder injury.

"I'm happy they have faith in me to come back and are confident enough to sign me," he told BBC Gloucestershire.

"Obviously I'm not getting any younger so a two-year extension is very good for me. I'm very happy at Gloucester and hopefully I can influence the team when I get back."

Molenaar revealed he is closing in on a return to action but will have to work hard to regain his place in Bryan Redpath's squad after his lengthy absence.

"There's three Monday night 'A' league games coming up so I'm hoping to make the home game in two weeks' time and then potentially the one after that," he added.

"Being injured at the beginning of the season was a massive loss for myself as the World Cup was on and it was an opportunity for me to play a couple of months of solid games.

"To come back after these boys have played over half the season, getting back in is going to be hard but hopefully I can add to the depth of the side."
