Jersey remain second in National League One despite a tense 24-16 win at Ealing Trailfinders, who fall from first to fourth place.

In a topsy-turvy game Jersey looked like they would lead at the break after being awarded a penalty try.

But centre Rory Damant touched-down seconds before the interval to give Ealing a 13-10 advantage.

Jersey hit back in the second half with tries from Dave McCormack and Guy Thompson, sealing a 12th win in a row.

Prop Ben Evans was yellow-carded with 10 minutes left but the islanders held on.

Ealing had been top of the table for months but have stuttered recently and won just one of their last six matches.

"I thought we did brilliantly to be honest," said Jersey boss Ben Harvey.

"I thought we got very emotional in the first half and it didn't allow us to think clearly.

"We've got to keep winning, and playing like that we will do."

Ealing were without prolific try-scorer Phil Chesters who was out with a hand injury.

Director of rugby Mike Cudmore said: "It was a good game, a good spectacle and two good sides.

"We're not in a bad way but you want to be consistent at what you do and want to be winning your games and we hope to bounce back next week."

Jersey had gone into the game one point behind Ealing and level on points with third-placed Rosslyn Park.

Park grabbed a bonus point for scoring four tries in their 43-17 win over Cambridge, so they are the new leaders.
