Edinburgh players celebrate progressing to the Heineken Cup knock-out rounds

Edinburgh head coach Michael Bradley was "thrilled" to have clinched a place in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup with victory against London Irish.

The bonus-point win ensured that the Scottish capital side finished top of pool two and set up a last-eight tie at home to Toulouse.

"To have won the group which gives us a home quarter-final is fantastic," Bradley told BBC Radio Scotland.

"The boys were very, very good. They're delighted, they've worked hard for it."

First-half tries by Tim Visser and Jim Thompson put Edinburgh in command and Natani Talei and Lee Jones added two more after Jonathan Joseph had touched down for Irish.

"We controlled that game; very good first half then got a little bit wobbly halfway through the second half but closed it out fantastically well," said Bradley.

"The defence was magnificent. It was very, very good play.

"It was significant that London Irish didn't have a lot to play for when they came here so once we got into them physically, on that basis they were always going to feel that this day was going to be a long day for them."

By bettering Cardiff Blues' result and topping the pool, Bradley's side avoided a tricky away tie with Leinster and will instead welcome Toulouse to Murrayfield in April.

"It's an opportunity for us to make another statement for Edinburgh Rugby and we can do that at home, which is fantastic," added Bradley.

"The crowd were brilliant again and people now are coming to Murrayfield and realising it's a good place to come and watch some good rugby being played."
