Northampton Saints capture Sam Dickinson from Rotherham

Northampton Saints have signed Rotherham captain Sam Dickinson for the 2012-13 campaign.

The 27-year-old flanker, who can also operate at lock, joined the Titans from hometown club Caldy in 2009.

He has gone on to play 63 times during his two-and-a-half years with the Championship side.

"He is physically strong, very competitive and has good leadership skills," said Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder.

"He can also play in a number of positions, which is very important as we try to successfully manage our resources within the salary cap."

Dickinson added: "I knew that a number of clubs had been looking at me, but to get the call from a big club like Saints at the top end of the Premiership was flattering and I had no hesitation in putting pen to paper."
