Wales have suffered a double front row blow before the autumn internationals following injuries to Rhodri Jones and Craig Mitchell.

Scarlets prop Jones, 20, needs surgery on a shoulder injury and has been ruled out for 12 weeks.

Exeter tight-head Mitchell is also expected to be out for a lengthy period with an elbow injury he picked up in Sunday's defeat to London Welsh.

Wales face Argentina on 10 November in their first of four autumn tests.

Samoa (16 November), New Zealand (24 November) and Australia (1 December) also visit Cardiff.

Jones made his Wales debut in June's 30-21 victory over the Barbarians at the Millennium Stadium, and was selected for the summer tour to Australia.

"It's very disappointing for Rhodri and for the whole squad as he's made a real impact and is a key player for us going forward," said Scarlets coach Simon Easterby.

"We wish him a quick recovery. We have a number of options in our front row to work with going forward including the arrival of our new signing Jacobie Adriaanse."
