Redruth skipper Chris Fuca disappointed despite win

Redruth captain Chris Fuca says his side is struggling to deliver a complete performance, despite five wins from five.

The Reds continued their impressive start to their National Two South campaign with a 36-19 win over Canterbury on Saturday.

But Fuca wants to see consistency from first to final whistles.

"Getting a full 80 is our goal," he said. "It was a good first half but in the second we seemed to go to sleep."

A first-half Lewis Vinnicombe hat-trick set Redruth on their way, with the side's other tries in the first period coming from Fuca and scrum-half Greg Goodfellow.

Their sole second-half try was from Tom Duncan, while Canterbury's tries came from Tom Best, David Devlin-Jones and Alex Veale.

The resounding win was later soured by Canterbury reporting that their winger Kwaku Asiedu had been "jeered" by a small number of home Redruth supporters.

Fuca added: "I'm pretty happy to be five from five. To win with a big score and to still have things to work on, we've got to be in a good place."

But the Reds' skipper was unhappy with his side's second-half display.

"If we can ease back a bit and not try stupid off-loads we'd be alright. It was a bit disappointing to win by that much and still come off disappointed," he said.

"We are forcing too much, panicking in certain situations and not reacting to the gameplan. We tried to carry on scoring wonderful tries when simple rugby is the best rugby."
