Jersey forward Kingsley Lang says the island side can build on their 20-20 draw with Pontypridd in the British and Irish Cup.

The match was the first this season that the islanders have not lost after being promoted to the Championship.

"The boys can take lots of confidence from the game, going up against a side that's unbeaten and really sticking it to them," Lang told BBC Radio Jersey.

"We were probably the best side on the day and a couple of errors cost us."

Jersey are bottom of the Championship and one of only two sides in English rugby's second tier yet to win a game.

They travel to Leeds next week still hoping to turn their fortunes around.

"There are lots of positives we can take from the game," added Lang.

"At half-time we thought we could definitely win it, but in the second half there were some critical mistakes in our line-out and that's what let us down.

"We'll take positives in training this week and take it forward into the Leeds game."
