Johann Muller set for Ulster return against Scarlets

Ulster captain Johann Muller is set to make a sooner than expected return to action in Sunday's Pro12 top-of-the-table clash against the Scarlets.

Muller ruptured thumb ligaments in the game against Glasgow in mid October and was expected to be out of action for around two months.

However Muller and hooker Rory Best have been named in a 25-man squad for the key game at Parc Y Scarlets.

Ulster have maintained their winning run despite the absence of the pair.

Ireland squad members Dan Tuohy, Iain Henderson, Luke Marshall, Craig Gilroy, Paddy Jackson and Darren Cave have also been named in the panel for the trip to Wales.

Captain Muller should play some part in Sunday's fixture.

Best has been sidelined with a neck injury suffered against Dragons a month ago, but has recovered well could return to action earlier than expected.

Chris Henry and Ruan Pienaar have earned a week off after playing in all three autumn internationals for Ireland and South Africa respectively,

Both will return for the Heineken Cup round three game against Northampton on 7 December.

Ulster are attempting to complete a clean sweep of victories away from home to the Welsh regions this season.

Scarlets have won their last four games in the Pro12, whilst their only defeat in the tournament at Parc y Scarlets in their last 13 fixtures was 16-23 to Ospreys in September.

No Irish province has won at the stadium since Leinster were the visitors in September 2011.
