Wales Women slumped to their second defeat in this season's Six Nations with this defeat to France Women.

New captain Gemma Hallett saw her side fail to score a point at the Stadium Marcel Levindrey in Laon on Friday night.

Nia Davies made her debut in a side showing two changes from the team side fielded in Wales' opening 12-10 defeat to Ireland.

Wales coach Rhys Edwards will be disappointed his side failed to score.

France bounced back from their shock 13-12 defeat to Italy in awful conditions in Brescia and Wales felt the full force of the backlash in the north of France.

Fly-half Jessy Tremoulière was at the forefront of an emphatic French display and as she racked up a personal tally of 22 points, including two tries.

She scored all of her side's points as the home side went in 20-0 ahead at half-time and Wales failed to deal with a dominant performance by an impressive French pack.

Full-back Caroline Ladagnous showed her pace to extend the French lead with a third try before replacement front row Laetitia Salles powered over for a fourth try for the home side.

Wales did go close when replacement Delyth Davies looked to be away down the touchline but France wing Elodie Guiglion denied her to keep the visitors scoreless.
