Cornish Pirates: Harvey Biljon bemoans unfortunate loss

Cornish Pirates assistant coach Harvey Biljon believes his side were unfortunate to lose at Rotherham Titans.

The 41-28 defeat means the Pirates have now lost six of their last seven matches in all competitions.

"I don't think the score was a fair reflection of the game," Biljon told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We deserved an extra score which would have put the pressure on and who knows what would have happened."

Pirates had won their last seven matches against Rotherham and wing Ashley Smith gave them a great start with the opening try of the match.

Titans winger Curtis Wilson went over shortly after to level the score, before the home-side's Eamonn Sheridan traded tries with Pirates' Tom Kessell as the game remained close.

But Laurence Pearce and Toby Freeman both went over for the hosts before the break to give Rotherham a 24-16 lead at half-time.

Kessell got his second try of the match shortly after the break to narrow the gap to a point but tries from Ted Stagg, Gareth Denman and Pearce's second ensured the Titan's the points.

Skipper for the night Darren Barry then scored a consolation for the Pirates.

"The players stuck at it and we scored four good tries but unfortunately a couple of things went against us," he added.

"I thought the players played with a fair amount of endeavour and we can hold our heads up high.

"We need to learn from a couple of things such as controlling our frustrations but overall we did well."
