South Africa won at Murrayfield last year

Scotland will play the first of their autumn internationals against Japan, with fixtures against South Africa and Australia to follow.

The opening Test is on 9 November, with the venue yet to be finalised.

South Africa, ranked two in the world standings, will visit Murrayfield on 17 November, with Edinburgh's national stadium hosting Australia on the following weekend.

All three matches will be televised live by BBC Sport.

South Africa were 21-10 winners at Murrayfield last November, while the Wallabies will be out to avenge last summer's 9-6 defeat in New South Wales.

Japan, hosts for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, were at Murrayfield in 2010, losing 24-5 in a non-cap encounter., external

Scotland lost all three of 2012's autumn Tests, with New Zealand and Tonga adding to the defeat by the Springboks and those results led to the departure of head coach Andy Robinson.

His replacement, Scott Johnson, remains in charge on an interim basis, with no announcements made regarding his future since the end of the Six Nations, during which Scotland won two games to finish third in the table.
