London Welsh boss Lyn Jones has been nominated for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Director of the Season award.

Jones is on a shortlist of four despite the club being relegated after finishing bottom of the Premiership.

Welsh's cause was not helped by having five league points deducted for fielding an ineligible player in March.

The other nominess are Leicester Tigers director of rugby and previous winner Richard Cockerill, Saracens' Mark McCall and Dai Young of Wasps.

Cockerill and McCall have both guided their clubs into the Premiership play-offs, while Young has overseen a Wasps revival following last year's battle against relegation.

Phil Winstanley, rugby director of Premiership rugby, said the league was fortunate in having some of the best coaches in the world working in it.

"This made the choice of selecting the shortlist very difficult indeed and it is a credit to all four of these coaches that they made it onto the list," he added.

The shortlist was compiled by rugby media professionals and the winner will be announced on 9 May.
