Jersey scrum-half Dave McCormack has confirmed he is retiring from competitive rugby.

McCormack, 33, will stay in his role developing the sport in the island, but with Jersey set for a second season in the Championship he has decided to hang up his boots.

The former Otley, Sedgley Park and Leeds Tykes player made five starts for Jersey this season.

"It's come to a natural conclusion," he told BBC Radio Jersey.

"It's quite a demand working part-time and trying to compete in the Championship at my stage of my career.

"I've had 17 really good years in national league rugby, it's been fantastic."
