Worcester director of rugby Dean Ryan has begun reshaping his backroom staff at Sixways by offloading four men, led by assistant head coach Nigel Redman.

Former England lock Redman, 48, was brought in a two-year contract last summer by Richard Hill, who was sacked as head coach at Sixways in April.

World Cup-winning prop Phil Vickery, brought in last summer in a consultancy role, has also left Sixways.

Attack consultant Mathieu Rourre leaves too, as does defence coach Phil Larder.

Former Great Britain rugby league coach Larder, part of Clive Woodward's backroom staff when England won the Rugby World Cup in 2003, first came to Sixways in 2007, before rejoining in June 2011, then having his contract renewed last summer.

Redman, Vickery and Rourre, doubling up with his role as the academy director at Biarritz, were all appointed within 10 days of each other last June.

Rourre has effectively been replaced by Shane Howarth, who has left Wasps to join the Warriors as a backs coach, leaving the need for a new man to work exclusively with the forwards.

"Dean has been open and honest with me since his arrival and wants to work with people he knows," Rsaid Redman., external
