Gloucester have confirmed the signing of Scarlets scrum-half Tavis Knoyle.

The 22-year-old, capped nine times for Wales, has signed a two-year deal with the Premiership club.

Knoyle links up again with former Scarlets boss Nigel Davies, who is now director of rugby at Kingsholm.

"I'm really looking forward to coming. Nigel has been a great coach to me over the years and it's a great place to be at the moment," the number nine told BBC Points West.

After playing for Neath, Knoyle joined the Scarlets for the 2009-2010 season and made 66 first-team appearances for the Pro12 club.

His regional absence while on Test duty this season saw him fall down the pecking order in Simon Easterby's squad and he opted to re-join Davies at Gloucester.

"He [Davies] has had a huge influence on my career," Knoyle added.

"He was great with me when I first started at Scarlets and the chances that have been given to me have been excellent. I couldn't have asked for more from him."
