England centre Manu Tuilagi has signed a new contract with Premiership champions Leicester Tigers.

The 22-year-old, who is a member of the British and Irish Lions squad for the tour to Australia, has agreed what the club describe as a "long-term" deal.

Director of rugby Richard Cockerill told the club website: "Manu is a world-class talent

"He has taken every challenge in his stride in the last three years as a senior player."

Tigers academy product Tuilagi has become a key player for club and country and scored one of his side's four tries in last Saturday's 37-17 Premiership final win over Northampton Saints at Twickenham.

Cockerill added: "We all know what he can do, but he is maturing as a player all the time too which means he is getting better and better with every season.

"We're delighted that he has committed his long-term future to the club."
