Danny Cipriani: Sale fly-half praised for reaction to omission

Danny Cipriani has been praised for his professional attitude by Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond as the fly-half prepares to make a Premiership return.

The 25-year-old was not involved in either of the Sharks' first two games.

But Cipriani has been named among the replacements when Sale take on his former club London Wasps on Friday.

"Danny's trained well and we think he is a game-changer," said Diamond. "If we need that skill set to come from the bench, we've got it in place."

Cipriani, who won all seven of his England caps in 2008, during his but his campaign ended when he was knocked down by a bus while on a night out with his team-mates in Leeds in April.

Nick Macleod and summer signing Joe Ford were both selected ahead of Cipriani for the and the subsequent home defeat by Newcastle.

But Diamond has been impressed with Cipriani's response to being omitted, telling BBC Radio Manchester: "He's knuckled down in training, bided his time and been positive. You can't ask for anything else.

"There are three or four other lads, who I know don't have the same profile as Danny, who are in the same boat.

"If people train well and do a good job on a Monday night [for Sale's development side, the Jets] they stand a chance of playing for the first team."
