Redruth back Ashley Hosking said the club's off-the-field issues made their 32-29 win over table-topping Hartpury College all the more special.

The Reds pulled off the win against a backdrop of financial problems, board resignations and the departure of director of rugby Adrian Edwards.

"There's a lot going on at the club just now," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"But it means a lot for us as a club to beat the team that's up there at the top of the league."

Hosking, who kicked a crucial 12 points in the victory, added: "Teams didn't really fear us any more but they'll see that result and it shows what we can do.

"It means a lot to me to pull on the shirt - there's a proud history at the club and we want to continue it."

Coach Paul Thirlby said the victory was a reward for the sheer industry of his players.

"The guys worked hard for 80 minutes and the work ethic of the guys was good," he said.

"There were a couple of soft tries we gave away which made life difficult for us but we've turned around and scored four tries against the top-of-the-table side and we deserved it.

"The guys put their bodies on the line and just not missing first-up tackles made a big difference - missed tackles cost you games."
