Dan Evans will join Ospreys from Dragons in the summer

The Ospreys have signed full-back Dan Evans from Newport Gwent Dragons on a three-year deal.

Swansea-born Evans, 25, will move to the Liberty Stadium in the summer.

He won two Wales caps on the 2009 tour to North America, playing in the two wins over Canada and the United States.

"There is some world class talent in the squad so it's a big challenge but I can't wait to get involved and fight for my place. I want to be a part of a successful Ospreys team," he said.

"The Ospreys have been the most successful team in Wales over the last 10 years, winning leagues and producing players for the national team.

"There are a lot of good players here, not only the senior ones, but a lot of good youngsters coming through. There's a good blend which is what is needed in a successful side.

"I've got a lot of experience now, not only in the Rabo but in Europe as well, but I've still got a lot to learn.

"The coaches have said they've seen something they like in me and they believe I can do a job for the Ospreys, and I'm excited about this opportunity."

Evans made 74 appearances for the Scarlets before moving to Newport Gwent Dragons in 2012.

He has scored 11 tries and 64 points in his 42 appearances so far in his two seasons at Rodney Parade.

Dragons coach Lyn Jones had already confirmed full-back Evans would leave the Dragons at the end of the season.

Evans will be replaced at the Dragons by Wales and British and Irish Lions full-back Lee Byrne, who is joining from French side Clermont Auvergne for the 2014-15 season.

Jones says he sees 33-year-old Byrne returning to Wales from Clermont Auvergne and youngster Hallam Amos as his 15 jersey options.

Medical student Amos, 19, has been capped once by Wales - against Tonga in November, 2013.
