Six Nations 2014: England wings told to attack France
- Published
England wings Jack Nowell and Jonny May have been told to play their normal attacking games against France in Saturday's Six Nations opener in Paris.
Exeter's Nowell, 20, makes his England debut while 23-year-old Gloucester player May, renowned for his ability to score from range, wins his second cap.
England attacking skills coach Mike Catt said: "We've reiterated to the players if it's on, then go.
"Jonny's there on merit. We don't want him to change the way he plays."
Like Nowell, Northampton centre Luther Burrell will make his international debut, while Harlequins scrum-half Danny Care is recalled as England make four changes to the side that lost 30-22 to New Zealand at Twickenham in November.
Catt expects a tough battle in the forwards, and for the game to only be decided in the closing stages.
"France have picked a six-two bench [six forwards and two backs] so you know what's coming," he said.
"They're big, physical guys and for you to break them down will take until the 70th to 75th minute. I think the game will be won in that final 10-15 minutes."
