Launceston secured their National Two South status after a 16-6 win over Shelford at Polson Bridge.

Unconverted tries from Barry-John Chapman and Ben Hilton plus two Kieron Lewitt penalties saw them finish two places above the relegation zone.

"It was important that we stayed in this league and we've done that," said outgoing player-coach Tom Rawlings.

"We've battled against all the odds this season and we've come out on top one last time," he told BBC Cornwall.

"I'm glad we did that because it was it my last game," added Rawlings, who is ending his seven-year association with the club after not being considered as part of next season's coaching team.

"I'm glad we finished on a high today, I'm really pleased."
