Ospreys: Alun Wyn Jones would welcome James Hook return

Ospreys second row Alun Wyn Jones has said he would like to see Wales team-mate James Hook return to the region.

The Ospreys are in talks to re-sign Hook, 28, from Perpignan, whom he joined in 2011.

Hook is under contract until 2017 but it is thought he has a get-out clause, external that can be activated after the French club's relegation from the Top 14.

"I'd welcome him with open arms but he's got to do what's best for him," said Jones.

"Any player or any supporter of Ospreys rugby would be pretty happy to see anybody like that walk through the door."

Lock Jones, 28, signed a new contract with the Ospreys in January which will keep him at the Liberty Stadium until the end of the 2015-16 season.

Former Ospreys team-mate Hook has been linked with newly promoted Lyon, as well as English sides Bristol, Gloucester and London Irish., external

He can play at fly-half, full-back or centre, has won 75 Wales caps and was part of the 2009 British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa.

Hook moved to Perpignan in the hope of playing regularly at fly-half, but he has spent much of his time in the Top 14 at full-back.

The ex-Neath player became the Catalan club's captain and signed a four-year contract extension in September 2013.

The future of Hook's fellow Wales international and Perpignan team-mate Luke Charteris, the ex-Newport Gwent Dragons lock, has also yet to be settled.

Jones added: "We're linked to Luke Charteris as well. I haven't spoken to the boys and being in the [Wales] camp I'm not going to press them.

"It's up to them where they want to go."
