London Welsh have signed Brumbies back-row forward Lachlan McCaffrey.

The 24-year-old has also gained Super 15 experience with the Waratahs and Western Force, for whom he featured against the British & Irish Lions on their tour in 2013.

Liverpool-born, he played his club rugby for Eastwood in Sydney.

"Lachlan caught our attention at the Cub 10s in Singapore when he was part of the Brumbies squad," said London Welsh head coach Justin Burnell.

"He's EQP and that's very important, but he's also got an excellent and proven pedigree in Super 15 rugby. He's a typical ball-playing Australian forward - he's got a brilliant skill set.

"It's another massive statement by London Welsh in our bid to compete in the Premiership next season."

A former Under-20 international, McCaffrey helped Australia reach the final of the 2010 IRB Junior World Championship in Argentina.
