Hayley Parsons, founder of comparison website Gocompare, is interested in becoming the Welsh Rugby Union's first female board member.

Parsons is standing down from Gocompare as she sells her stake for almost £44m.

The WRU wants to appoint female independent non-executive directors after member clubs approved the idea.

"I did hear a rumour the WRU was looking for the first female board member, so who knows that could be of interest," said Parsons.

"I love working, I love interacting with people and I love business generally so we'll see what opportunities come. But I'm not ready to retire yet that's for sure."

The WRU has never had a female board member in its 133-year history.

But at October's annual general meeting, members backed appointing two independent non-executive directors to the board.
