Newport Gwent Dragons want to make "two marquee signings" as they aim to rebuild for next season.

The Gwent region are currently 10th in the Pro12 table, but they could leapfrog Cardiff Blues in ninth if they beat them on New Year's Day.

Dragons head coach Kingsley Jones believes the squad must improve to be more competitive next term.

"We need experience and, if we can get two marquee signings, then that's what we will look to do," he said.

"We are always looking to strengthen the squad and we have had to make a lot of changes."

The Dragons' squad underwent a major overhaul during the summer, and Jones is hoping to make fewer changes at the end of this season.

The Rodney Parade-based region have not finished higher than seventh in the Pro12 table since 2005.

Jones is eager to add quality to the squad, but admits it could be difficult to sign the region's top targets.

"We have got to keep our money back. It's difficult to attract players to the Dragons for a number of reasons," he added.

"If you have got a choice between Saint-Tropez and Gwent, we know what's going to win out there.

"So we've got to be very selective in who we recruit."
