Premiership side Sale Sharks have signed Samoa flanker TJ Ioane on a deal until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has been playing Super Rugby with the Highlanders and provincial rugby with Otago since 2011.
Ioane, who can also play number eight, made his debut for Samoa against Canada in November and earned his second cap in the loss to England at Twickenham.
"TJ has joined us because he wants to play abroad and expand his rugby," said Sale boss Steve Diamond.
He told BBC Radio Manchester: "We've got one or two lads here that know him well and have said what a great environment it is."
The back-row forward is available for the Premiership game against Northampton on Saturday.
