Newport Gwent Dragons are in talks to sign back-row players Nick Crosswell and Ed Jackson.

Maori All Blacks flanker Crosswell, 28, played Super 14 rugby for the Chiefs in 2013 and 2014, and has also played for the Hurricanes and Highlanders.

Number eight Jackson, 26, joined Wasps from London Welsh in April 2013 and he has also played for Bath and Doncaster.

Jackson is well known to Dragons director of rugby Lyn Jones having played under him at London Welsh.

"Those two are players we've been in contact with," said Jones.

"There are a few others but it's not professional for me to mention who they are."

The form of Fijian Nathan Hughes for Wasps this season has limited Jackson's involvement on the pitch.

Dragons head coach Kingsley Jones recently said the region want "two marquee signings" as they aim to rebuild for next season.

The Gwent club are currently 10th in the Pro12 table and travel to Ospreys on Sunday, 11 January.
