Six Nations 2015: Tyler Morgan's delight at Wales call-up

Newport Gwent Dragons teenager Tyler Morgan says he is surprised to be in Wales' squad for the 2015 Six Nations Championship.

The 19-year-old centre was included in Warren Gatland's 34-man senior squad on Tuesday, a week after being named for the Under-20s.

Morgan signed a national dual contract in December 2014, but did not expect such an early call-up from Gatland.

"I'm over the moon. It was unexpected, but I'm delighted," said Morgan.

"It's a lot earlier than I expected, because I was watching these boys last year and thinking I'd like to be doing that in a few years.

"And for the next year to be called up - it's unreal."

Morgan has impressed since breaking into the Dragons line-up this season, and scored a try in their emphatic 40-29 win over Newcastle Falcons in the European Challenge Cup.

He is one of four uncapped players named included in the Wales squad preparing for the opening match of the tournament against England in Cardiff on Friday, 6 February.

The others are Blues fly-half Gareth Anscombe, Scarlets loose-head Rob Evans and Blues hooker Kristian Dacey.

There is no place in the squad for Gloucester's 77-times capped James Hook or three-time Grand Slam winner Adam Jones - although the Blues tight-head is on standby as injury cover.

Morgan says he has benefitted from the opportunities given to him by Dragons director of rugby Lyn Jones and with Wales Under-20s.

"There's a lot of good centres in Wales. With the four guys who are in there right now, I didn't know how I'd fit in," added Morgan.

"It'll be a bit shocking being on the same training field as those boys, but hopefully I'll fit in quite quickly and be quite comfortable there."
