Northampton Saints have signed Scotland lock Tom Ryder from Glasgow Warriors until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old is available to feature for Saints against former club Leicester in the LV= Cup on Saturday.

Ryder, who has also played for Saracens, won both of his Test caps in the summer of 2012 and has made 87 appearances for Glasgow since 2010.

"We're confident that Tom will be able to contribute fully," said Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder.

"We have a number of significant injuries in the second row, and Tom's experience and quality will be useful to have around the club over the next few months."

Saints are currently without locks Courtney Lawes, Christian Day and James Craig.

Day has been added to the England Six Nations squad and will be joined by Lawes, should he recover from ankle surgery, while Craig is also injured.

Ryder added: "I've really enjoyed my time in Glasgow and my wife and I have made a lot of friends in the city.

"I'm looking forward to this new challenge in Northampton and I wish the club all the best for the remainder of the season."
