Six Nations: Chris Robshaw says England face Ireland hurt by 2014

England captain Chris Robshaw says losing the 2014 Six Nations to Ireland on points difference is motivating his team before Sunday's match in Dublin.

Stuart Lancaster's side watched from a post-match dinner near Vatican City as the Irish clinched last year's title with a 22-20 win in France.

They had beaten Italy 52-11 earlier in the day but it was not enough.

"It was tough to take," Robshaw, 28, said. "When you're sat there hundreds of miles apart you're pretty helpless."

He added: "The worst bit about last year was probably seeing something like that happen and being photographed at the time and then the next day seeing the two extremes in the way the camps reacted across every paper."

Robshaw says England have learned from their mistakes as they get ready to face the only other side unbeaten in the Six Nations this term.

"We all had a beer together after and said 'we've got to continue learning from this'," he said. "We are getting better but it's one thing getting better, you've got to be picking up that silverware.

"Silverware matters to everyone. As a player you want to be judged on what you've won. It's all well and good picking up caps and playing x amount of times for your country, which is incredible, but you want to win stuff.

"I don't think guys need much motivation for this game. It's going to be built up, it's going to be exciting. Two great teams going at it."

England have recorded a 21-16 win over Wales and a 47-17 victory over Italy in the tournament so far, while Ireland have beaten Italy 26-3 and France 18-11.
