Six Nations 2015: Sam Warburton not motivated by records

Sam Warburton will equal the record for captaining Wales when he leads them out against France in Paris on Saturday.

The Blues flanker will lead his country for the 33rd time - bringing him level with Ryan Jones.

Warburton won his 50th Wales cap against England but says breaking records is not his motivation.

"It has sort of crept up on me quite quickly," said Warburton, who first captained Wales against the Barbarians in June 2011.

"It was never a motivation. I was always focused as a young player to be able to play for Wales. That has always been the important thing for me.

"My real focus now is trying to make sure we win on Saturday, which is so important. Anything else that comes we will enjoy at the end of the Six Nations."

Wales go into the game at Stade de France off the back of a 26-23 win over Scotland but needing a win to keep alive their hopes of winning the championship after losing 21-16 in their opening match against England.

A win would also see the Welsh record four consecutive wins against the French - a feat they have not achieved since the 1950s.

"I love playing under pressure," added Warburton.

"I would much rather have a game like this one against France. It is a must-win game. There is a lot more tension on the training ground but it's a good energy.

"It will be an awesome game. I've only played 15-20 minutes out in France because I got injured four years ago and two years ago I missed it because of a nerve problem in my shoulder.

"So I am really looking forward to it because I've never had a good hit-out in Paris."

Coach Warren Gatland has made four changes from the team that beat Scotland, while France coach Philippe Saint-Andre has made five changes after their defeat by Ireland.

"I don't think France have played much rugby but I think it could change against us," Warburton added.

"It wouldn't surprise me if they went wide and we have to be prepared for a few different game-plans."
